Full Touch Screen Phones

I have mixed feelings about phones switching to touch screen keyboards, I feel nothing beats the feel of keys; I can type faster and work the phone faster using real keys. Now don’t get me wrong I do like touch screens for selecting menus and browsing the phone but not for the keyboard. Palm and windows have been using touch screens for a long time now, but not for keyboards(yes they had the screen keyboards but it’s not the primary). Definitely touch screen technology has improved so the ability to do more with it on phones is easier now but do we really need touch screen keyboards? I use a blackberry curve 8330 from Verizon and I love the keyboard for emails, texting and everything else. One of the problems I see is what happens if you crack your screen? The whole phone can’t be used and could put your phone out of commission. And no matter how strong phones are the screen is still sensitive for scratches and ware, so when your screen becomes your typing source and your viewing area any damage or ware will get in your way on your screen instead of being isolated on a keyboard. In the same area how long are these touch screen surfaces going to last? Or will they ware out faster then keys? Of course with the touch screen becoming more and more popular more phones are going to start changing there phones. Of the phones that have came out using touch screens the ipone and the storm being the two most popular ones out now, I don’t think I would go for either one but more toward the bold or alterative. Basicly do we really need phonrs that are full touch screens? What do you think?
